In mid-May 2013 I had major surgery that I knew would have me off the bike for a while. At the time I rode a 1998 BMW R1100R. I stayed in Bryson City and road Tail of the Dragon; only once the Cherohala as it was too cold for me that day, plus there was a wait for an automated flagman at a one-lane section due to a landslide a couple weeks earlier.
Yeah, the end is in the mountains. I hit the Hall Effect Sensor known issue (insulation on the wiring harness breaks down, leading to unreliable operation – it wouldn’t even run anymore for me) as I was leaving Byrson City so had to get it hauled home.
