As noted in her post, Angela is not well. The desert air isn't helping and she is in no shape for a desert crossing so we're going north instead. I'll do some catch-up updates here tonight.

Our trip thus far.
Dallas and Houston.
Making a quick update while getting lunch in Houston before hitting the road to Austin. We visited another friend in Dallas plus a yarn stores (and tried The Woolie Ewe, which looked clearly out of business) then headed to Houston, dodging rain along the way, to visit a very dear friend who proved to be … Continue reading Dallas and Houston.
Dallas.
Today was riding to Dallas, Texas, and meeting with a friend. Angela wanted to visit some yarn stores but they were closed. A badly needed day of less riding, even if it saw our first use of our rain gear. On an equipment note, this little gadget has been great for ensuring my mobile stays … Continue reading Dallas.
Tulsa!
Met a friend in Tulsa and had a wonderful afternoon. I truly wish we could have stayed longer (another time!) We took a bit of a road less traveled to McAlester, OK, staying east to avoid storms. There was a tense moment on OK RT 72 just north of Council Hill while clocking 55 in … Continue reading Tulsa!
Like bugs on a faceshield…
...so are the days of our lives. Awesome moment of the day: having stopped for a respite in Forrest City, AR, just parked and removing our gear, a young couple with two girls, likely under age five, we're walking past. The younger of the two exclaimed, "I didn't know girls rode motorcycles!" And now she … Continue reading Like bugs on a faceshield…
Nashville, TN
After getting on the road Angela told me that she had a song stuck in her mind. I asked what and she sang a verse of "She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain." I began laughing because I was thinking of that song yesterday. Later, we needed a break and, with no rest areas in sight, … Continue reading Nashville, TN
Starting day two
Angela didn't sleep well so we got a slightly late start. The bonus to this was that we were still at the hotel when some severe thunderstorms moved through rather than on the bikes and in the Appalachian Mountains.
Almost out of North Carolina.
We made it to Asheville, NC, and decided to call it a day. A combination of little sleep and a late start (had to take care of some other matters) drive this. We're getting dinner then sleep. Saw an Indian 111 at a rest area and had multiple chats with people who loved that we're … Continue reading Almost out of North Carolina.
Preparations
We're in the home stretch of preparing for this trip. A few technical issues have or need to be addressed. PiggyBacker tail lights would all go out if the BMW's brake was applied. This proved to be a problem with the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat, i.e. me. I had picked a … Continue reading Preparations
