I’ve had some fond memories on my mind of late: 30 years ago today I, along with my exchange trip group, sat down for a farewell dinner at a hotel in St Petersburg, Russia, on our last night before leaving the country (we would board a train to Helsinki the next day and have a … Continue reading Mementos of the USSR

Holy unexpected Kate McKennon guest appearance! A lesbian couple who are psychotherapists and wrote a best-selling book about marriage struggle to keep theirs together. Originally this was a two season short serial but it was recut into two hour-plus episodes with outtakes from the respective seasons at the end and interstitial title cards with the … Continue reading Dyke Media Watch: We Have To Stop Now (2009-10)
Dyke Media Watch: Meet Cute (2020)
A really simple, syrupy short of lesbians meeting in a professional environment and one slipping the other her number. At 9 minutes there's not a lot of story and only 3 characters but it is seriously cute and worth the watch even with some technical issues (the focus is often slightly out.) This is an … Continue reading Dyke Media Watch: Meet Cute (2020)
At first we were strangers, then we were lovers, and now we’re strangers again.
Due to off-topic banter among some coworkers who joined a conference call early I realized: it's right about 4 years since the last time my first wife and I talked. In May of 2017 she decided we were going no-contact because she would not agree to abide by the same rules she demanded I follow … Continue reading At first we were strangers, then we were lovers, and now we’re strangers again.
Dyke Media Watch: Gal Pals (2017-2020 short serial)
Oh what a beautiful sapphic mess! There's no way I can summarize this series. It starts with a lesbian catfishing straight women on an online dating site and goes on from there in incredible fashion. I definitely recommend it. The final episode is the perfect payoff and the dialog from the therapist is fantastic.

Elderly Adeline is settling into an assisted care facility and forwarded mail arrives with a letter from Helene, a name she hasn't heard in a very long time. It seems I'm into a run of mid-century lesbian love lost … Continue reading Dyke Media Watch: Adeline (2018 short – French w/ subtitles)

Dyke Media Watch: Snapshots (2018)
Three generations of women have a lake house vacation during which the past and present demand to be examined. I struggle to write a sufficient summary of this because it's firmly in the "I was not emotionally prepared for that" file while being an absolutely fantastic film. This one hits a lot of points about … Continue reading Dyke Media Watch: Snapshots (2018)
Dyke Media Watch: Crazy Bitches
Sure, you can take one budget horror movie, slice it into episodes then give it an equally budget second season, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. Crazy Bitches was a 2014 horror film that was cut up into 10 episodes to make a serial then an 8 episode second season was created … Continue reading Dyke Media Watch: Crazy Bitches
